Do I need a professional photographer at all?

Look at it like this: just as using Microsoft Word does not suddenly turn someone into a noted author, owning a digital camera does not mean that now someone is automatically a skilled and experienced photographer.

Remember this: professional photographers spend years training and they never stop.

What should I be looking for in a wedding photographer?

Please judge your wedding photographer primarily on the quality of their work, and also ask them what qualifications they have.

What events do you cover?

Weddings, parties, receptions, family and social occasions, business events, plus portraits. 

I'd like bizarre camera angles and mysterious blurry figures etc.

Please look elsewhere. Black-and-white or sepia is one thing, but weird slanting angles and overdone pseudo-trendy effects risk making pictures look dated in the future, as well as causing frustration! Traditional shots will stand the test of time, while black-and-white or high-contrast can work well for some photos.

What sort of albums do you provide?

After much research and visiting the suppliers' premises in person, we provide two different types of album:

  1. A professionally-printed album with thick silky pages 12 x 12 inches, of which the covers are made from real leather in white, red, or black. Alternatively, photos can be printed onto a hardback cover. A smaller size is also available (good for portraits or second books).

  2. For those wanting the ultimate, a luxury hand-crafted album, ranging in size from 8" square to A4 size and beyond. The quality of the workmanship is exceptional, the design is by dedicated experts, and the materials used are the very best.

Many of the other albums now available fail to meet the exacting standards of our trusted suppliers or do not provide good value for money.

Can my guests view the photos online?

Yes, and they can even order prints online, meaning that you don't have to worry about ordering them. Note that in order to make the most of the hard work and effort put in by all concerned and to do the photos justice, these are from a professional lab, not routine 'High Street' or online machine prints. 

What area do you cover?

The company has premises in both Hampshire and Berkshire, but most locations within the south will be considered. Other parts of the UK and Europe only at certain times of the year due to high volume of work at peak times. Please enquire!

How do you help us to save money?

You are not paying for time and money often wasted on endless albums and mounts, overdone special effects, 'consultation meetings' or hundreds and hundreds of proofs spilling everywhere.

What about so-called 'reportage' photography?

Formal posed shots are very important, and your guests and relatives will expect them. 'Reportage' just means a stream of photos of events on the day, and any half-decent photographer you have employed should snap plenty of these as a matter of course.

I want the photos printed cheaply at Boots. Can I have the original files?

It is better to have the photos printed by a professional lab, to do justice to your decision to employ a professional to do the job in the first place. However, you can purchase the original files on a CD/DVD, if that's the option you prefer. Please see the price list.

What if the photographer is ill/has an accident etc?

This has not happened yet, but we belong to a scheme where fellow photographers (whose work has to meet a very high standard) will fill in for others in the event of an emergency and at very short notice.

Can anyone else take photos?

Of course - just don't get in the way! Please also note that good photos depend on co-operation from all involved, while good wedding planning/time-keeping can also play its part.

Do you have public liability insurance and a CRB document?

Yes.
