FAQ
Why do I need a wedding or event photographer at all?
Asking an unqualified friend or family member to do your wedding photos as a favour might save money but can lead to embarrassment. Instead, perhaps you could invite them to pay for some aspects of the photography as a wedding present, such as a book or set of photos.
Many have long realised that having a word-processor does not turn them into a JK Rowling, but some have still to learn (to their cost) that having a digital camera does not mean they are now a qualified and experienced wedding photographer!
What are your qualifications to take photos professionally?
A BA (Hons) Degree in Film & Photographic Arts from the University of Westminster. More here.
What about so-called 'reportage' photography?
This just means a stream of unposed photos of events on the day, and any half-decent photographer you have employed should snap plenty of these as a matter of course. As a qualified and experienced photojournalist, however, our photographer really does deal in 'reportage'!
Even if you are completely opposed to time-honoured formal shots, please budget for about 20 minutes of posed photos, if you can. Everyone will want to see them afterwards.
What are your prices?
Depending on your requirements, prices are likely to be in the region of between £750 and £1,500. You should budget between 10 and 15% of your wedding budget for the photos, according to current thinking.
